I was in the process of making backgrounds using alcohol ink and ran out of blending solution so I made my own and it worked. The good news is it is less expensive than the original brand and I find it works well. In fact, you need less of it to achieve virtually the same result. Please scroll down to check out my video on how to make it.
If you are interested in more techniques and ideas using alcohol ink…..Jennifer McGuire and Two Peas in a Bucket produced a 9 week on-line class called Thinking Inking. I watched the entire series on YouTube and loved it! As part of the nine week series she did a series of 4 videos on alcohol ink techniques. Click here to watch the first in the four part series. Now we can buy more Cricut carts:)
This is great! I have seen the inks but never got curious enough to see more and use them. I am now going to have to try... mhhh since I enjoy your voice and videos, have you consider making your own version of the 4 videos you mentiones?
What a fun technique! I second Gaby's comment.
Thanks for the great idea and nice comments!
Linda
Super video!! Thanks for the tips!
Was the paper you used a shiny surface or was it just regular white cardstock? Thanks for sharing,
jackie
Jackie: Thanks for the comment. I used a white glossy paper and paper does make a big difference. Ranger makes a great glossy paper designed for using with alcohol inks. Hope this helps!
Linda
I've always wanted to learn how to make this. I'm glad you pointed out that paper makes a difference. TFS Linda.
Thanks for the video. Your demonstration was easy to follow.
I was thinking the same thing Gabby!!! I really enjoyed listening to her voice, the quality, substance & direction of information was perfect. Her speed was also perfect, not to fast, not to slow....made it very easy to understand. ALSO....I may ask this again....but your nails are beautiful, can I ask what color & who makes it...?
That's great, but do you mix anything in with the alcohol, water perhaps? You don't mention that in your video.
I'm also wondering what else do you use to mix with the alcohol to make the solution? Or is it just alcohol?
Just alcohol:)
Wonderful video and it was so kind of you to share the video links. Your inking techniques are beautiful and so is your work. Thanks so much for the useful information.
Did I miss what you mix the rubbing alcohol with?
Solution: a liquid mixture in which the minor component (the solute) is uniformly distributed within the major component (the solvent).
synonyms: mixture, mix, blend, compound, suspension, tincture, infusion, emulsion
Not a singular ingredient.
