Clear Embossing (Enameling) your Imagine and Cricut Cuts

Today’s video will be a quick technique video on how to clear emboss (enamel) your printed Imagine or Cricket cuts. In other words, your cuts will have a shiny glossy finish almost like the expensive dome stickers you can buy.

I just got an Imagine and I continue to be impressed. There was a question on the Cricut message board asking if you could clear emboss a printed Imagine sentiment and it got me thinking. I love to stamp and wondered if I could clear emboss over the HP ink without it smearing. The answer is yes. I can’t believe it; the ink does not run even when heated numerous times with an embossing gun. This technique also works great on cuts made with the Expression and Baby Bug. Yahoo!

Good idea instead of using HP Photo paper which works the same. It gives you that nice glossy finish.

Love using embossing powder (and UTEE)...great idea Linda! I'm still on the fence about the Imagine so it's good to see what it can be used for. TFS

Thanks all for the nice comments. The great news is that this works equally as well with the regular Cricut cuts! Yahoo.

Can the embossing crack on the cuts ?

K: I have not had my embossing crack. It might if you bent the cuts or applied too many layers. I only do three layers and do not fold or bend my cuts after they are embossed. Thanks for the question! Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for that, Linda! Great tips! I actually just learned that by rubbing a dryer sheet over your image before inking, it helps eliminate the excess embossing powder sticking in unwanted portions of the paper. I'm not sure if this would work with colouring with the Versamark pen or not, but something worth trying perhaps.
