Terrifically Talented Thursday

Welcome to Terrifically Talented Thursday. For those of you that are new to this blog, every Thursday, I showcase five blogs, websites or posts that I think you will enjoy. Here are my weekly picks.

But before we get started, I want all of you to know that I now have a blog button! It is located on the right, under my YouTube link and I would be so honored if you chose to display it on your blog. Thanks again for all your support and nice comments on my YouTube anniversary! Now back to TTT.

Laura is a Graphic 45 Design Team finalist and has submitted this amazing clock as her final project. This is a working clock! I am so keeping my fingers crossed that she is chosen to be on their team! Her blog, The Paper Trail is a must see! Thanks Laura for all the inspiration and good luck!

Lisa posted a video on YouTube with step by step instructions on how to make decorative paper circles using Martha Stewart corner paper punches. I can’t wait to try this technique.

Speaking of corner punches, here is another great video on how to make decorative circles with paper punches. Veronica Chambers gives tons of examples using MS punches and information for different sizes. I may be wrong, but I think she owns every MS corner punch.

I love Graphic 45 and visit their blog frequently. Kathryn of the Life on the {Scrap} Beach blog has designed an amazing album using their new Steampunk line. Be sure to scroll down so you do not miss any of her pages. Wow!

Nikki from Scrappin Navy Wife posted a picture tutorial on how to create your own background paper with your die cuts and distress inks. She used the background paper and made a beautiful sympathy card. Thanks Nikki for the great tutorial!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a terrific Thursday. Please stop in tomorrow for a fun new card. Linda

Quick and Easy Business Card Holders

I fell in love with the video tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers on how to make a faux leather wallet and Popsicle Toe’s country look wallet, so I decided to modify the concept to make quick and easy business card holders to go with my homemade business cards. Please scroll down to watch the video.

This technique is so easy and can be adapted to make any size wallet or card holder!

Have a great day!

Friends and Detours

My friend Lisa, who lives in Belgrade, MT is remodeling her craft room and asked me if I was interested in some of her stamps, punches and cutting tools. I said sure! We drove over to her beautiful house Saturday and she treated me to several boxes of goodies. We had a great morning enjoying her craft projects, (quilting, custom purses and beautiful digital scrapbook albums) and enjoyed a delicious lunch at McKenzie River in Belgrade.

It was time to go and my husband, Bill, suggested we drive the back-road to Helena. As we were driving, I asked, how far is is to Yellowstone Park? He said, about 50 miles". So of course, I said, "why aren't we going to Yellowstone National Park?"

That is how we ended up driving to the to the North Entrance and into the park. We were lucky and saw lots of different animals, including bighorn sheep, elk, bison, deer, moose, bobcat, coyotes on kill, golden eagle, and ravens. Most of them were too far to take a picture, so here are a few photos to give you a feel of how Yellowstone looks in winter.

Bison grazing alongside the road. As you might imagine, it is difficult to get to the grass under 4-5 feet of snow, so they try to get the easy grass that the snow plows dig up.

Cooke City, Montana. That's the 2nd floor of the General Store. You have to drive 58 miles from Gardiner, MT through the one road that is plowed to get there. The altitude is over 7,000 feet and it is a snowmobile paradise.

The Loving Cup Espresso is access challenged, but they manage to dig their way out.

Thanks for looking and thanks to Lisa for all the wonderful crafting equipment! (and providing us with our excuse for a detour to YNP)

How to Make Quick and Easy Easter Baskets Out of Cricut Cupcake Wrappers

Today, I want to share with you my design project for Creative Critterz Imaginations blog.

I recently saw a cute Easter Basket in a magazine and it got me thinking. Why not make an Easter Basket using a Cricut cupcake wrapper?

I used the Lori’s Garden cupcake wrapper on page 29 to make the basket and sized it using the fit-to-page function on the Imagine. If you don’t have Lori’s Garden, don’t worry, you can use any Cricut Cupcake wrapper for this project. Yahoo! You can also make baskets for different occasions.

The thing about Cricut cupcake wrappers is they do not have a bottom, so my first challenge was to create one. I used a 2 ½ inch Reynolds silver foil baking cup.

I cut off about one inch on the end of the Imagine cupcake wrapper so it would fit perfectly around the Reynolds’s liner and secured the wrapper with tape. Next I attached the Reynolds liner to the inside of the wrapper with sticky tape. I didn’t worry about finishing the inside of the basket, since it was going to be filled with Easter grass and candy. The bottom of the basket is now silver, but you could use any color cupcake liner. I chose the foil, because it was stronger.

Next I cut a handle ¾ x 11 ½ inches and trimmed with my scalloped scissors. A punch would also work. I added ribbon and attached the handle to the inside of my basket, added Easter grass and candy and was done.

Recipe:
Lori’s Garden Imagine cartridge
Baking cup or paper cupcake liner I used Reynolds 2 ½ inch silver foil
Adhesive
Ribbon from my stash
Punch or decorative scissors

Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend.

Edna is extremely talented and just happens to be my design sister on the Creative Critterz Imaginations blog. She designed this cute project using the Cricut for My Pink Stamper’s latest blog hop. Last weekend, I did all the updates to my Gypsy and Imagine and all went well! My Gypsy and my Imagine are now working as a team! For those of you waiting to take the plunge, here is a very informative video from She’s Crafty on how to link and manage your Imagine cartridges and more! If you are thinking about buying the Imagine, this video will give you more incentive to buy!

One of the new features on the Imagine is the proportional rectangles and She’s Crafty came up with a chart on how to use the proportional rectangles to make rectangles of virtually any size. She even filmed a video and made a chart that I keep by my Imagine. Thanks!

I love making flowers and here is a fun technique by Melanie Schulenberg on making roses with just a strip of paper! This is on my must try list!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a terrific Thursday. Please stop in tomorrow for a fun new project.

YouTube One Year Anniversary Celebration! My Favorite Videos

As part of my one year YouTube anniversary, I thought it would be fun to look back over the past year and pick my favorite two videos.

My all time favorite video is on how to make an expandable card box. Below is the video and here is a link to my original post.

UPATE: Ipad/IPod users will have to go to their desktop machines to see the flash videos below. They were created before Youtube supported HTML5, which IPads use. I just got the IPad 2 and they don't work on it either.

Next is my video on quick and easy ways to tie ribbon. This one was so much fun to make.

Hope you enjoyed these videos and thanks for allowing me to walk down memory lane with all of you! And don’t forget to leave a comment to enter the giveaway. Thanks again for being the best followers ever!

Saint Patrick’s Day Candy Box

Today, I want to share with you my design project for Creative Critterz Imaginations blog.

I am seriously addicted to Hershey Nuggets and when I saw this cute box video by Chic’ n Scratch, I just knew I had to make some for Saint Pat’s day.

I made a couple of changes to Angie’s design and added stamped images from my stash. First I printed the paper from the Best Friends Imagine cartridge. Instead of ribbon, I cut a strip of paper and lined it for the handle.

I also decorated each nugget with a one inch wide strip of paper. Two nuggets fit perfectly inside each box. Too cute!

Thanks for looking and be sure to visit Monday for a fun celebration! Hint… it involves all of you!!

Recipe:

Imagine Best Friends cartridge
Stamps from my stash
Ink
Hershey Chocolate Nuggets!

Have a great week!

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

I used this free SVG file designed by Amy Aimitup to create this cute card. I enlarged the file and welded two circles together to form the card. I also used my Cuttlebug to add texture to the third layer and inked the second layer. As always, I added faux white stitching and some extra bling. The stamp was from my stash and perfect for the center.

I am working on a fun new video that I think you will enjoy, so please stay tuned!

Happy Birthday!

Today, I want to share with you my design project for Creative Critterz Imaginations blog.
I got the idea from a card in Cards magazine and just had to adapt it!

Since one of the hottest trends this year is buttons, I wanted to make a card using the Imagine and buttons. I made this cute card for a friend’s birthday, but it could be easily adapted for many different occasions. I think it would make a fun thank you or an anniversary card!

First, I made several sheets of paper using the Best Friends cartridge. The background card measures 5 ½ x 6 ½ inches and I used the pink paper on page 46 for the card base. The next layer is cut at 5 ¼ x 5 ¼ using the yellow paper on page 46. The inside layer is cut at 5 x 5 inches and flood filled with paper from page 35.

The flowers are cut at 1.5 inches and are on page 17. I only cut the last layer from that image.

Lastly, I used Photoshop to make the sentiment, attached buttons with glue dots and pop dotted the flowers.

Recipe:

Imagine Best Friends
Printed or stamped sentiment
Dimensionals
Glue runner
Glue Dots
Buttons from my stash

Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

Terrifically Talented Thursday!

Welcome to Terrifically Talented Thursday! Today I am spotlighting several craft videos along with some wonderful blogs and new products that I think you will enjoy. Here are my weekly picks.

Yesterday I posted a fun video all about buttons and my friend Katie, suggested that I visit this post. The new button boutique set from Paper trey Ink is amazing just like this shadow box from Erin. Everything but string (to tie in the buttons), ribbon (around spools), and rhinestone brad (scissors) is made out of paper. If time, check out Erin’s blog, Procrastination Station to see more great ideas. Also you don’t want to miss my friend, Crafting with Katie’s blog, she is sooo talented. And she loves buttons too!

Speaking of Crafting with Katie, she also told me about this fun new blog, The Craft Hot Spot. This blog was created by Momo and Paula who according to their profiles wanted everyone to have a place where they could come and have a schedule of all the Craft Related Events, Blog Hops, Giveaways, Swaps, UStreams, and much more. What a great concept! I am approaching my one year YouTube anniversary and I am so going to promote my giveaway on this site. Did I mention that Katie is super smart too? Thanks Katie for the link.

Now for the new videos, I promised you. First, check out this video on how to make spiral fabric flowers by SaCrafter. This is not an ordinary flower video, SaCrafter shows you how to color and add shimmer to your fabric. Once she has created the fabric she makes some really beautiful and simple fabric flowers.

The next video is from Robin at Robin’s Creative Cottage and shows how to make and emboss boxes using plastic. Too clever and it looks super simple.

The last video is from Hero Arts and demonstrates a new layered stamped backgrounds technique that has a watercolor look.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a terrific Thursday. Please stop in tomorrow for a fun new card.
