Special Post: Trip to the Yellowstone Association's Summer Landscape Photography Class

My husband  recently took a photography class at the Yellowstone Association's Lamar Valley Buffalo Ranch and I  asked him to share some of the results and I am so glad I did!. But before we get started be sure to enter my Silhouette Giveaway by clicking here.

Hello everyone! Thank you to Linda for letting me share my photos on her website. I hope you enjoy them. First, a few words about the Yellowstone Association. They are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing educational materials to park visitors and to supporting educational, historic and scientific projects within the park area. They create park displays, conduct educational classes, sponsor scientific research, and publish the park newspaper that you get when you enter the park. I highly recommend signing up for one of ther classes when you visit Yellowstone.

This is a long telephoto shot from Artist's Point of the bottom of the Lower Yellowstone Falls. It reminds me of the Oregon Coast, and gives one a feeling for the power generated by the river dropping 308 feet.

One of the techniques I learned at the workshop was nighttime star shots. This is the Milky Way at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch around midnight. It is spectacular in person!

This is Obsidian Creek in the northwest part of the park. It is warmed by thermal activity and supports a growth of Saw Grass which grows abundantly, even in winter.

Close-up abstract of Saw Grass in Obsidian Creek.

Spawning West-slope Cutthroat Trout at Trout Lake in the Northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. This area is also home to river otters who show up to feast on the trout. They can put on quite a show, but unfortunately, I had just missed them.

Arrowleaf Balsamroot Flowers

Mammoth Terraces with waning Super Moon in the sky.

Mammoth Terraces. As the terraces advance, they overrun trees and leave fantastical tree skeletons behind.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my photos and special thanks to my wife for hosting them!
