New Year Trip to Yellowstone National Park: Part 2

We had a great time in Yellowstone National Park over New Year's and I promised some video of four moose fighting. Well, they are not really fighting, just playing, but it's fun to watch. But before we get to the video, here are a few more photos for your enjoyment.

Bill shot this picture of bison crossing the Blacktail Ponds. They seem to walk well on ice, but its risky because hot springs make the ice thin in some places.

I shot this photo of Pebble Creek. It had snowed heavily the night before and everything was covered with fresh snow.

Bill shot this photo of a Bighorn Sheep ewe.

As I mentioned on Friday, we were treated to the sight of four moose who seemed to be fighting. Two had large antlers and two seemed to be younger with smaller antlers.

Four Yellowstone National Park moose having some fun sparring. The rut is over so these moose are just letting off a little steam.  It looks like the one with the smallest horns is a young adult who seems to be picking fights with just about everyone. The bigger moose are having none of it. They are wintering in an area known as Round Prairie in Yellowstone National Park.
