How to print a Sentiment Anywhere on a Card or a Page Using the Imagine

My Imagine was delivered late Thursday and I love it! I wanted to use it to print a sentiment anywhere on my card or page so I came up with this workaround. The process is a little challenging, but I am hopeful future updates to the Gypsy will make this easier. In the meantime, I will be saving money on rubber stamps and avoiding cutting intricate sentiments. Now, I can print sentiments from my favorite cartridges anywhere on my card or page.

I will post a couple of projects tomorrow along with lessons learned so you can avoid learning the hard way. Enjoy the video.

I really LOVE this idea. One question though....when you flood fill the squares with white does it actually print the white? (worried about wasting ink).

Thanks!!
Traci~

Great question. It does not print anything... the printer will leave the spaces totally blank. No wasted ink at all. Make sure you fill with an RGB of 255. Linda

Wow, great job figuring this all out! Thank you. My "I" is not expected until 10/11, hopefully it will actually ship then. I know this info will be very helpful!

Thank you for making that video. I think it's amazing that you knew to do that. I'm going to have to try it. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to learning more from you. It's so nice to find someone else that loves the Imagine. There have been so many complaining, but not me. :)

Wow, thanks so much, I was wondering how I was going to do that without cutting around the image and adding it on top of my card base. I've only had my Imagine a week and I absolutely LOVE IT!! Love having my own scrap store and I'm sure with the updates it will just continue to get better and better, just like my beloved Gypsy!! TFS

Linda,
Your video was very helpful. I am definitely going to give it a try. Thanks for doing all the investigating for us and then sharing it. I am just so happy to have been able to get my Imagine. I have not had alot of time to test ride it thou. Hope to spend a few days just doing all the trial and error stuff. Thanks again.

Awesome! I have a question though and only noticed this on your video because it is so clear compared to the other Imagine videos out there. When you are resizing in the box that holds the width and height measurement numbers there are two triangles in the two upper corners. The upper left one is black and the upper right one looks like a turning page. Does clicking on those two corners do anything? I thought maybe it was to put in smaller numbers like decimal numbers instead of only 1/2 inch increments. Anyway, I'll probably never own an Imagine but it doesn't mean I can't learn about it!

I'm new to your blog, your work is beautiful. So excited that we can do this now. Thanks again!!!!!

Does this mean you can cut it out too? Like can the machine print and cut out the sentiment only and not cut out the squares? Thanks for your advice!

That was really helpful.

I'm still waiting for my Imagine.. and sure praying I don't encounter the problems the other ladies have. It's almost made me want to cancel my order. I understand about bugs.. but then these are some dooozie type bugs!

I think I can wrap my brain around the squares.. and being able to print the sentiment anywhere you want is a really cool technique! I appreciate your video. Thank you.
I am now a new follower and gonna watch alllllllllllllllll your videos for inspiration here.. while at work. LOL.

Love the Imagine and Love the information. Can we use HP photo paper to print on?

Nancy B, Thank you so much for doing this video. Wow it amazes me you just received your machine and figured this all out. You saved a lot of us all the trouble.

Great video!

Linda Kaiser said...

Thanks for the questions. The machine can cut out as well as print the sentiment. It is a remarkable machine. Linda

Kris: I tried clicking on them and nothing seem to happen. Not sure what they do. Good catch. Wow!

How on earth did you think of that? That's amazing. I don't even have an Imagine, I'm waiting for people like you to convince me it's worth it. I enjoyed your video and if I ever do get one I'll use this method!

You are so darn smart! Thanks so much for sharing the instructions, you made it very easy to understand :)
I really like your blog too!

Pack Leader. I have not used HP photo paper but I did use thick glossy photo paper ( I used Kirkland’s professional glossy inkjet photo paper from Costco) and I increased the pressure to five and changed the setting to glossy. Also I set the blade at 6.The drying process takes a little longer with glossy paper, so be patient. I wasn’t and thought there was something wrong with my machine so I tried to remove the paper. Bad move… I had to shut off my machine and start over.

Linda: Maybe those are for FUTURE updates for being able to resize in decimal numbers and/or smaller increments! We can always hope! Thanks for checking for me! Like I said, your video shows the Imagine screen so clearly that it was the first thing I saw. Whoever took the video is excellent at it. (I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to new technology and so figure those triangles will do something sometime!)

I am new to your blog also. I have had my imagine for 2 weeks and would never have thought of what you did. But I am still confused on how to size an image. If I want images to print at 1 in height and 4 inches long. do I do the true size at 1 in. or the rel? button.

Linda Kaiser said...

Terri: Great question. The true size dial is like the real size dial on the expression.

Tammy did a video on sizing and you may want to check it out.

I tried the HP photo paper yesterday and it worked just fine. I did change the settings like you said. I used the 5x7 photo paper. Still not happy with the color of the prints. Very light and it is a new machine just got it last week. Any suggestions on getting deeper color?
My craft site is: www.craftmethis.com.
Everything there was made with the Expression.

By the way I tried placing the image like you said and it worked perfect after a little shift to the right and a little to the left but I got it. Just a little patience. Thanks

Linda Kaiser said...

Pack Leader: I am happy to hear the HP paper works and sorry to hear you are still having challenges. I am not sure what else to suggest. Maybe this is a good time to call Provocraft customer support. Here is the number 1-877-727-4288. Good luck, I am sure they can help!

PS Cute blog!
