How to Make Your Colored Pencils Look Like Expensive Markers.

In today’s video, I demonstrate how to make your regular and watercolor pencils look like you used expensive markers. There are several color pencil videos on YouTube; however my technique is slightly different.

We will also be making this card . A special thanks to Joy from Every Day Cricut for this cute card idea, I so scrap lifted! Hope you enjoy the video!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy this fun and easy technique!

Wow, I Love this!!! I have also been looking at the ProMarkers, but the cost is too high for me. This is a great alternative! Thanks for an awesome card and a great tutorial!

You are so welcome. If you don't have water color pencils, the Crayola Watercolor pencils work great and are around $4.00.

Thanks again Linda

Is there an alternative to the Gamsol? I cannot use chemicals at all. I love your tutorial though. I wish I could use the Gamsol.

Deborah: You might try using the colored pencil blender from Artist's Loft. I got mine at Michaels.

You can also use plain water with the watercolor pencils...it works, however the colors will not be as vibrant.

Hope this helps. Linda

Thanks for the awesome tutorial! I have that same exact set of Karat Aquarell water color pencils so this is perfect - I got it as a gift in 4th grade (I'm 20) so I agree they are really old! lol

Hi Linda! I love how you save me money :)! My kids have a ton of crayola colored pencils so I will be digging through their stuff. Great tutorial!

BTW do you think I can use the Fantastix blending sticks by Tsukineko? Don't know if you're familiar with them...

Thanks again!

Linda,
love your coloring techniques. I will have to try it w/ water color pencils too.
Deborah,
i used to use the chemicals but found i was always getting headaches even with good ventilation. I now use baby oil gel. It works great, smells good too, & dries well w/o an oily residue.

Linda,
You always have such great information. Like you, I have started collecting markers. I buy a few here and few there, but just can't afford the sets and with them you get about half of the colors you want and the other half are colors that you will probably not use. So I like this idea alot. I have the water color pencils already, and you gave us a great fix for what I didn't like about them. Thanks. I'm off to give this technique a try.

I put a square of felt in the bottom of one the tupper mini's and add enough Gamasol to saturate it.
That way, I don't have to worry about over wetting my stump and have less to clean up, if knock my container over. Easy to carry with you, if taking to crop.
