So many great ideas here!!! Love the projects too! My organizational tip that I do has to do with my stamp storage. I use baskets to store my stamp collection. I have a basket for each theme...i.e. birthdays, sentiments, holidays, etc. This way, when I'm looking for a particular stamp...I know exactly where to find it! My baskets are all on shelving right above my scrap desk so they're all close by as well! Thanks!
hugs,

Hi! My organization tip for paper is that I purchased 2 sets of drawers to store drafting drawings, from IKEA and I use the drawers to store my paper by colour, size and season. It is easy to open a drawer and see the colour array at a glance. As these units are on wheels, I can move them around easily. I have also dedicated one drawer just for my Spellbinders Dies and one for my Cricut cartridges as well as the relevant booklets. On top of one unit, I have my Cricut Expression and on the other is my Sizzix Big Kick. I can operate each tool right on that surface and do not have to take it out each time I need to use it. Having dedicated surfaces for bulky equipment is a very good thing!

Hi

What a fun contest, I am going to use several of the ideas.
My tip is I use clear bags for my embellishments. All Fall in one, snow in another, that way when I am working on a winter theme, I can go to the bags and grab snow/Christmas or whatever fits the project. No more searching for the tags/ribbons/brads I know I have that fit that theme.

Cin said...

I store my ribbon by lights and dark in Artbin storage containers I purchased at Joanns (on sale) and that way I don't have to remove them off a pole to get One specific roll. No rolls involved.

Shanna and Billie said...

My tip is how I organize my stickers. I use large binders and place the stickers still on their sheet in a page protector or a sticky photo album page. I then place them in the binder by theme or subject such as flowers or sports. I have them on the top shelf of a short bookcase right by my desk.

To keep organized I love my rolling cart my husband purchased for me for my birthday. It has lots of drawers where I keep my paper(by company) and then it has a long shelf where I can store my big cricut mat flat. A cupboard below to store spray adhesive, and embillishment holder, & scrapbooks that I am working on. My cricut fits on top. I really want another one though it would really be helpful to have all those extra drawers for me to fill up :-)

My organizational tip is for wood mounted stamps. I remove the rubber and adhere it to cling foam from Sunday International. I store them in either clear CD cases or Stampin' Ups DVD storage cases. It has saved an immense amount of storage space!

Hi Linda! I am so excited about coming across your blog! I can't wait to sit down and watch your videos, I am your newest follower! I guess you could call this a tip:
I was about to throw some chip cans away and decided to recycle them instead, I took the label off the front added some cardstock, adhesive and bling and voila I had a new home for my memento markers!

Hi Linda! Love your blog. Very talented gal. My OT is for storing punches on the wall. The rods I originally saw on a blog was the Ikea gel rods, but I don't have an Ikea close by, so I just went to Walmart and bought small window curtain rods. They're kind of flimsy so I had to put a bracket in the middle for support, but they work great. I used to store them in a plastic bin with drawers, now I hang all my punches (Martha Stewart, etc.)on the wall where I can see them, and they look great too! TFS!

Visiting from Everyday Cricut...thanks for all your great ideas and how to videos. Could use refreshers and different takes on things. I myself clean as I go or finish projects in terms of organizing or I'll end up spending a whole weekend reorganizing my craft room which may not be too bad cause I end up always finding things I was looking for or didn't know I had! ;P

My favorite organizational tip is to re-purpose. I love our small, local Salvation Army. My craft table is an oak table with drop sides. It was a bargain, sturdy, (one of the few things in my home that survived flooding from Hurricane Wilma, and its versatile and attractive. I also recently found a wooden shelf with colorful baskets. It's original purpose was for children's toys. I use it for scrap supplies. I love it.

You have Great information. Thanks for all the videos. I use a lot of baskets but most of all I have large stationary container on a turntable with easy access to tools.

I have lots of clear plastic drawer untis and containers in my craft room to store just about all of my supplies and embellishments. Some of my paper is stored in clear plastic paper containers and some is stored vertically in "magazine" holders of different sizes. Everything is separated by type and some things by color. It's not fancy but it works well for me.

Hi Linda...I am a follower of your blog!!..One of my favorite organizational tips is storing my embellishments/stickers is photo boxes and labeling them in the following order:

Christmas Only

This way I know exactly where to look!!

I've enjoyed reading all these tips, well . . I haven't gotten to them all yet. That will take a while ! I keep my stickers sorted in hanging files by subject. Makes it real easy to find and they don't get as wrinkled.

I am a new follower! What a great tip for paper scraps! I currently have a mess I dig thru! This is much better ( and more attractive :))
We moved not too long ago and I am looking for ideas for organizing all of the great things I have accumulated!
I like to use photo boxes for many items, when the cute colored ones that fit in my theme are on sale I buy some! I can store clear stamp pages in one... regular stamps in another.. glitter... etc. You get the idea! And they lend them selves to make super cute labels too! :)
Thanks again!
Hoping this is my "lucky" post! I could use some luck! and Cricut love :)

love reading all the tips.

I love little pearls, brads, bling, etc and need a handy way to store them. If I use a container too big, they get lost and mingled together ( I also like them separated by color) so I use small 12mm test tubes and keep them in a test tube rack full of tiny parts

Nanci said...

I tend to use clear storage containers for my markers, inks stamps etc. I have a file cabinet that I use for paper and have a different folder for each color/theme. That way I can always find scraps when I need them. I love your duct tape book idea.

Hey Linda, thanks for having a great giveaway. My organizational tip is...for all my little card making supplies, buttons, stickers, etc. I go to our sports store and buy the clear tackle accessory containers for jigs and hooks and use them for my card making accessories. They have removable divider inside that you can adjust as needed. They work great.

TYJ419 said...

I have one drawer dedicated for scrap card stock that I file in plastic folders with the snap flaps by color. And, if I have large size scraps that I want to keep with the original paper stacks I create a pocket on the back chipboard and file them there.

Lisa P said...

My best organizational tool is my baskets. It keeps things at close reach yet lets me put things away easily in between layout. My other best tip is clean up between projects! So much easier to do a little at a time than to let it build :)

Mrs. De Jesus said...

My Favorite organizational tip is to organize my stamps by theme in baskets (I leave them in the stampin up containers). I then label each baskets and then I have a matching binder with the same themes in which I have tabbed and labeled by theme. I then stamp each stamp on white paper and place it in the corresponding tab, that way I know what stamps I have w/o having to open every case.

Janice said...

Really love to see your ideas! My best organizational tip is with my ribbons. I buy the stacks of plastic containers at the dollar store and roll my ribbons into each one. Then store them by colour in plastic boxes. makes it easy to find the right colour and style!

VICTORIA said...

I put all of my stamps in a binder. I get the page protectors and put a white 11x8 1/2 paper in side of it and that way i can put a stamp set on either side. Also i do the same with my spellbinders and various dies. Also any downloaded instrutions for various projects. Also I store my 130 cartridges in a small container and labeled each with a number and the books that go with them has the same number on them. Made a list of all the cartridges with the coordinating numbers that way its easy to find which one i need. I have saved so much room with these space saving ideas. Also i am already a follower but today became a subscriber.

I read the tips, and most of them I have used, am using . The great one that I would not be with out is the pegboard system, in fact I am planning to put up another one, this way you can hang things, if it does not have a way to hang put it in a sheet protector. I also have reused my Cricut boxes-cover them with paper to match my decor, labeled them and I have them sitting on a shelf-I store extra cuts in them by category and cartridge(several together). because of this I frequently do a lot of extra cuts, because i know where to find them

I store all my cricut cartridges in long boxes made of chip board. I have white chip board I printed on my imagine and cut on my expression. I store my cartridges in alphabetical order on a shelf just above my machines for easy access.

I take pictures galore. I print them and store them in photo albums with pockets. Then when I scrap I flip through the oddles and oddles of photos picking out the ones I will use on my pages. I have a small one album that looks like a purse that I like to put photos in when I shop for papers and such for those layouts. Another tip is I keep a card file by my computer that when I see something I like on blog or in a magazine I make out a card with a brief description, a sketch, and details such as where I found the idea, the date and such so I can give credit where credit is due.

Hi Linda, I was already following out your website and so glad you're being highlighted in Everyday Cricut. My favorite organizational tool is the Creative Memories power sort box. It allows me to sort my pictures and put them in individual boxes and then just grab the box I need with the pictures I want to scrap when going to a crop.

Cynthia Baldwin said...

Great tips! My favorite tip is to every so often PURGE your supplies. I'm guilty of hoarding supplies and then finding I don't like that style anymore! I end up making cards from a lot of those older scraps, but I also give some to my daughter for her crafts, and to our Girl Scout troop, and to friends and our former day care center. I even sold a bunch of old scrap mags at a garage sale...
someone's old supplies mayt be new and fresh to another person!

I think it's important to use supplies that will inspire you and make you want to craft, so being able to PURGE your supplies is key to good organization!

My organizational tip is for Cricut Cartridges. I use a Plano tackle box for my cartridges, overlays and booklets. It fits nice and neat.

Congrats on being a guest designer for Everyday Cricut!

My organizational tip is.. I take the 12x12 clear plastic folders that you can get from Michael's and place all of my projects in them, pictures included. So for my neice, I have her name on a folder and any items that I purchase with her in mind, I place them in her folder. Nephew, pirates, 4x4, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween and so on and so on. So when I am ready to scrapbook the pages, I am not searching everywhere for that ribbon with the shock monkey on it or the sock monkey braid. They are in the "sock monkey" folder.

Thank you for the chance to win - would love to add those carts to my small library!! I hate throwing out scraps - they can be used for so many things! I use a cardboard bankers box, add hanging file folders marked with each color for ease of putting back the folder when I'm done. I also have lables for my assorted patterned paper. So much easier to find little scraps than what I did before. My email is: mr_conboy04@hotamil.com

My tip would be the shoe storage over the door storage units you can get at Walmart and other places. I use mine for a few things, my punches for one, another I use for storing my brayers, heat tool and things like that. It works great to keep my stuff organized and I know where it is at.
Thanks for the chance. This is one of my favorite blogs to come to and see what all is new and the projects can't be beat!

What a great idea! I have two tips this morning... the first is I store all my 8 1/2 x 11" colored cardstock in hanging file folders in a file box (or two!) under my craft table. I cut a small corner from a piece of each color and slid it into the little plastic tab on the top of the folder. This allows me to see what color is in the folder without having to have the expensive clear folders. I also store all my scraps from that paper back in the file folder so I can try to use the scraps first before using a new sheet. For my small embellishments such as buttons/brads/googly eyes/etc. I use clear plastic jewelry / embroidery floss cases with the 20 or so mini compartments in each to separate each pack of brads/buttons. The key is to buy enough cases (and a few extra for growth) so they are all the same size/style and will stack/store nicely.

Hi here! I just came over from Every Day Cricut and just love your site!
I'm big into upcycling my cricut and scrapbooking supplies so that I can save money for more paper and cartridges!
I use former diaper bags for storing large card stock and then use the outside pockets for storing glue and runners, my X-ron cartridges, my cricut zippered case with my cricut tools, and any embellishments. Everything has a place so when I am done, I just zipper closed for another session:)!
Thanks for the great blog and tips. I'll be coming back for sure!

I go through magazines, scrapbooking and others, to look for inspiration. When I find those inspirations, I cut them out and put them in sheet protectors and keep in a binder.

To organize my 12x12 paper, I bought square plastic "boxes" to store my paper. They are only 4-5 inches tall, but I can store a lot of paper in them and then stack them! I also have a file folder that will hold 12x12 paper. I sort it according to color.

I also have little plastic totes with drawers to organize ribbon, stamps, ink pads etc. They are clear, so it makes it supper easy to see what is inside!!!

I love clear stamps and use them to add interest to my Cricut projects. I organize them in the clear cd jewel cases (which are pretty cheap). I print each stamp on the blank side of the case liner and turn it face out, then place the stamps on the other inner surface (they stick very well). To further organize them I use a cd rack and categorize them by topic- easy to find exactly the stamp you need at a glance! Love the snowman and the paper scrap tip, which I will definitely use.

I came over from Everyday Cricut. Love your video on using the duct tape and making little books of your scrap papers. Also your cards are adorable. Love the zebra one.
I really enjoyed reading everyone's organizational tips. My tip is that I store my punches in hanging shoe caddies I have over my storage cabinet doors. They have net pockets and I can see which punches are in each pocket and they are easy to find.

I do a lot of lettering with my cricut. Many times I use the negative (outside of a word) as a border and am left with individual letter die cuts. I took 26 snack size baggies and labeled them A-Z. All the leftover letters go into the appropriate labeled bag. I haven't had to purchase sticker letters for a year, I always have them ready and waiting.

My organizational tip: Don't spend big buck on organizational tools. Instead check your local Goodwill and other thrift shops. One of my best buys/finds was a rolling tool box that sold on an infomercial for $40 and picked it up for $3. This device has been great for storing brads, buttons and brackets. :)

Hi Linda! About a month ago I was at Walmart and saw this little girl looking at a Caboodles makeup boxes which she wanted to use for her Barbies dresses and shoes so an idea popped in mind to get one to store some of my crafting supplies. It took sometime to think about what to store in it. So finally I stored my wooden stamps and larger clear blocks for the clear stamps. I try to recycle and re-use containers that look promising for storing things I use for crafting. :)

Thanks for an opportunity to win.

Some wonderful ideas here. What helps me stay organized is a quarterly purge. Every few months I search through my stash and redistribute them according to my current needs. I always find things I have forgotten about so it is really fun. When I get over run with extras, I donate them to a local nursing home or senior center.

I am loving all the tips!!! I haven't had time to go through all of them (wow....461 so far!), but I hope to this weekend. My tip is to use the Zig 2-Way Squeeze & Roll Fine Point for gluing the cupcake wrappers (Cricut cartridge). My daughter is getting married, and I've had to make 120 cupcake wrappers, and this glue has been invaluable to me.

I also LOVE the stamp set (All Around Christmas) that Emma is giving away. I can see using that on many things other than just cards.

An Organizational tip: "Clean up as you go". First, by having a 2 gallon "scrap bag" handy at crops, to put those leftover pcs. Also, Page protectors to put the los in, paper storage bin, etc. In your craftroom, organize cardstock by color, and patterned paper by theme and/or company depending on your desire. Prepare Layout "kits" with photos, sketches, journaling, and embellies, in order to not waste time later. Keep ribbon, and flowers stored in one place, all color themed. I keep mine in 4x6 zip bags linked together with Quilting rings. Display projects that will inspire you, but limit the clutter!

We're on an adventure. We've sold our 5 bedroom home, and are now RV-ing full time. That led me to think about how to save space and weight of my stamps so that I can still enjoy my passion. I've taken my stamps off of their wooden bases, and replaced the wood with a heavy duty clear plastic that is the size of the original wood base. I then organized the stamps by themes into 3 ring binders. I've customized plastic sheet protectors by sewing pockets that fit each stamp. My stamping friends that have seen this new system are all going through the work of making this system for themselves as they see the advantage of being able to better place their stamps when stamping. (You can see through the plastic base.)The second BIG advantage is that now I 'shop' in my themed notebooks, being able to pick the exact stamp I need, rather than trying to remember all the stamps in a collection.

If you can imagine a spool flattened, I've made that shape in heavy plastic and wrapped my ribbon around each. This has saved a LOT of space, and also is very portable. Sometimes I store these in clear plastic boxes, by color. At other times, I put a Christmas ornament hanger in the hole I created near the top, and hang them on a pressure rod. It's easy to arrange on this by color. I've tried many ways to organize ribbon. This is truly the most user-friendly.

I've really been enjoying your projects on Everyday Cricut this week!

I have a very small scrapping space, so I make sure I have everything well organized. All my embellishments in an organizer (brads, ribbons, little bits and pieces) all organized by colour or theme.

My paper is all in 2 storage bin/drawer towers... all organized by theme.

I have two door cupboards over my desk space and have the Cropper Hopper containers for splitting my cardstock by colour.

I use photo boxes from M's to store my cartridge overlays and handbooks... and then my Gypsy to create (this way I have one box of all the cartridge boxes in my storage room).

That's just some of my goodie storage ideas!

I have two tips. I buy ribbon by the yard at my scrap store. I cut 5" x 7" cardboard. Using small piece of tape tape one end wrap ribbon around and using small piece of tape tape other end. This then goes into a plastic sleeve that holds 3-4 of them. This keeps it nice and flat. Other tip hubby took a 2"thick by 4" deep x 15" long. He drill 3/4 in holes on top this enables my to store my stickles up side down. The holes are bigger that the diameter of my glue pens but I store them also in a whole upside down. You could drill any size hole for bottle you have.

Hi Linda,
I am always downloading new patterns and I find that if I keep a basket on my desk and put new downloads in it....it saves me alot of mess on my desk.

Kate said...

Wow! What a great lot of fantastic tips! Being so late in the game, I'm not sure I have much to offer at this point. For my scraps, I have a box which I keep handy while I'm at work, and simply put my scraps in the box until I'm done my project(s). Pieces must be at least as large as the palm of my hand. Then, when I'm ready to tidy up, I sort the bits by colour and file them in a plastic 12x12 divided storage system. I also have a file for multi-patterned paper that does not have a single, prominent colour.

HI Everyone, I use the shoe boxes you get at Michael's or AC Moore's to store my dies and embossing folders. There is a place on front of box to hold the label. I also use the small plastic bage you get from clothes with the snaps to keep y stamps in. They have little hangers on the so you can hang up.

Ok I just started using a new system...I use ziploc baggies to store my scraps. So high tech right? Well I was sick of trying to search through an unorganized drawer of scraps so now they are organized by color. Each baggy has a different color family in it and it sits on top of the the full sheets I have of that color. Also my husband is building me a shelf system for my papers that will have 20 different cubbies for my paper. I am very excited about that to be finished.

Organizing scrap paper in 3 ring binder with clear pockets and by colors has been the easiest way i have found easy to carry with you Creative memories has some folders that holds different size papers that works well.Pen and pencil boxes work great for pens scissors you can open them up and us both sides to be able to see what you have and close up for easy storage. Clear stamps same as scrap paper I have typed a list and kept it up to date and saved to my computer to update helps to keep a copy with you in your purse that way you don't buy the same one over and over. The new cricuit cartridge box is great for holding your cartridges and if you are like me I like to be able to see what is on them I printed a copy of the back of the box and made a book for those that way I don't have to pull out each book to look thru Love your blog all the ideas and directions are wonderful thanks for a chance to win some exciting cartridges to work with before christmas

My favorite tip for organization that I have would be to use an old wire hanger or pants hanger for ribbon storage. Simply clip one side with wire cutters and slip spools of ribbon on to be hung anywhere around your craft space.

Hi Linda! Great blog and love the paper pads to organize scraps! My favorite organization idea is....I took an old lamp and lampshade and used it as a organizational piece for my acrylic stamps, cuttlebug folders and embellishments. I peeled off the fabric from the lampshade which left a frame with a small ring on top and bigger ring on the bottome with vertical supports. I spray painted the frame to match the lamp and used the wire christmas ornament hangers to hang up all the supplies I listed above.

I have 3 of the MM embellishment centers and hated having to unscrew the ends to get the rods off to change my ribbon so I went to the lumber store and bought several lengths of 1/4 round moulding (this is the one that looks like a wedge with a scoop out of it), cut them to fit where the ribbon shelves and glued them down. This way I can pop my ribbon spools in there and remove them to either replace or take to my table for my project. Sometimes, I need several shades to see which one works the best. Using this method allowed me to have more than just the 2 shelves for ribbon - I have 10 on my 3 units. I also used rounds dowels for a couple of the shelves so that my larger spools of ribbon would have a place. Need to figure out how to store the small spools - working on it! LOL

Hello Linda, that was an awesome tip to do with scrap paper. I aslo love you blog, i've only been following for a couple months, but I'm hooked now :) My organizing tip is: I saved some of my daughter's baby food jars and filled them, with beads, buttons, eyepins... all my loose items. I'm in the process of makeing a shelf for my tools and I'm going to nail the lids of the food jars on the bottom of the shelf so that way I'll never lose a lid. Hope you find this helpful and others can use it too :)

Not sure if I can do another tip or not, but I use 113x14 clear drawers sets that I got at J's. (It says 12x12 on the front but they hold 12x12 paper easily). I have 60 of these that I have stacked below a shelf that my neighbor built. These drawers house almost all of my papers, stamps, embellishments, etc. I love these drawers as you can have 1 (or more) for each theme (I have 5 for Christmas). I have one that holds all of Tim's ink pads, blending tools, etc. Even room for his new ones coming soon. I have 1 for my boy embellishments and 1 for boy paper. I love that I can go right to a drawer and everything I need is right there. I have 1 drawer full of white cs for next to my Imagine and the drawer below that is all my cricut tools.

I have two storage methods and use both of them all the time. 1. For my large scraps--some that have a least one 12" side to them,- I store those in one of the transparent folders with the string tie. These are filed in that folder in ROYGBIV order. This way when I'm looking for a large piece to mat a photo or make a border I'm not wasting time looking through tons of tiny pieces. 2. For my small I use a plastic bill file. I also file the scraps in the ROYGBIV order with each color in their own divided section. These small scraps are the ones I use in my Cricut so I'm not wasting a full sheet of paper for a small cut. Hi there!! I am really excited about this contest!! My organizational tip is for storing clear stamps. I use CD cases (the regular thick kind, not the slim ones)The stamps stick to the case just like they stick to the acrylic blocks and you can label them on the spine and see what you have much easier. I then store the CD cases in a CD rack.

My org. tip is not to get too caught up in the details of sorting everything but keep most things within reach so I actually use my supplies.

My tip is to purchase a plastic storage bin - the kind your husband would use to store nails and screws, washers, and such. They usually have 12 to 16 little pull out drawers. I label each drawer and store like colored brads and "bling stones". Works great because it sits on my work table out of the way and yet is easily accessible when I need a certain color brad or fancy pearl or stone.

I bought some clear totes and have my cuttlebug and all the dies and embossing folders in one totl. When I get to AZ it should be easy to unpack. Still have all the paper to organize yet. Seen an ideas for using the shipping boxes from the Post Office to hold paper.

I make photo copies of my stamps/examples/ideas and put them in binders and label them (birthday, Christmas, etc.). When I'm ready to make something (and I can't remember all the stamps I have) I go to the binder for the event I want to make something for and not only know what stamps I have to use, but also have the ideas and examples right there.

THANKS everyone for such great organizational tips! I purchased a clear 'notions' box at Joanns that I use to hold all the small brads and embellishments. The box is about 10" x13" and has 24 little compartments with 48 total as the box has a lid on both sides (the box is deep enough to be divided in half). I hope I've described it well enough. It's been awhile since I purchased it and don't remember the 'name'. The whole box and compartment sides are clear lucite so very easy to see all the contents.

Hi Linda, I came over from Everyday Cricut and loved all your projects this week, so subscribed to your blog. My favorite org tip is using ikea storage boxes (one size bigger than CD box) to store my cricut carts. I made folders from the Fabulous Finds cart and sorted them alphabetically. I can fit 15 carts per box. I then covered the old cart boxes in decorative paper and use them to store pens, small tools and embellishments. It was so much fun re-purposing the boxes 'cuz I got to use my cricut! (I also made folders for my cuttlebug emboss plates, with a sample of the embossing on the front of the folder).

It's fun reading how others organize their crafting supplies. I took plastic canvas and made a series of divided sections that sits in the bottom of a plastic storage box (sort of like a dish pack unit for moving). I then put a Cricut cartridge (alphabetically) in each section. The manuals I keep alphabetically in a plastic storage box with a handle. Takes up very little space and if I want to take them with me they're ready to go.

Hi,I couldn't afford to purchase a clip it up. So I saw a youtube video where the lady purchased a shoe rack that stands on the floor and spins because she couldn't afford the clip it up. It works so well I love how I can group stickers and letters to hang and choose from. You can even buy the flower pot plastic holders to put it the spin part to use for extra storage of punches or odd and end items.

I love to use photo boxes (the $3.99 cardboard kind that you can often get for half off or less) and label each box for a category of embelishments-like one box for ocean theme, one for pets, one for Christmas, one for red ribbon, one for green fibers, and on and on my stacks go. I use the black ones, so when they stack on my book shelves they look very complementary and neat. As a counselor, I think I really NEED "My cricut is my therapist" cartridge!! Thanks for the offer!

Loving reading all the organizational tips. Love this site!!!!!!
My tip I have tried a number of ways to organize my paper and now I think I have it. I bought 13 X 13 white hanging files from Oriental Trading and my husband made me wooden boxes to hold the files. I put the paper in alphabetical order. Each color has 3 files one for plain, one for patterned and one for scraps. They are tabbed so it is easy to find what I am looking for. Now I look in the scrap file before cutting on a full size sheet.

I am new to this blog and love the ideas that you share. I love the idea about making your own scrap pads using duct tape...will definitely be using and sharing that idea. When I first started paper crafting, there was no such thing as a Cricut so I purchased a lot of punches. I still love using them for quick projects. To cut down on storage space, I have purchased the kind of fabric shoe holder that has 20 slots and hangs from the back of the door in my craft room. I put the punches in the slots and by theme/design so I have easy access to them. This also works well for storing cricut cartridges. Thanks for all your inspiration

I just became a follower, I will have to spend some time here reading all the great ideas.

I have 2 organiztion tips to share.

I had 12x14 filing cabinetes built and I write on top of each of my pads, the names and company of my paper pads. Now I can easy find my papers without haveng to rummage through stacks of pads. I have one of these drawers for just my Christmas pads.

My second organiational tip is that I create a pocket on all of my paper pads and store the bits and pieces of scrap paper in then for that pad. Now I have all my cordinating papers in with their correct pad and this saves me from cutting a full sheet a lot of the time.

I posted a photo of this on my blog

Hi, Sorry if this is a repeat. I thought I had submitted and didn't see it listed. Well anyway....I take squares of heavy card stock and punch my punches, one per card onto them. I hand the card stock on a ring and can easily flip through them when looking for a particular shape. Works great too if you are trying to determine if a phrase will fit within a punched hole. Nice to also see if different shapes will stack on top of each other to form an interesting opening. Great ideas everyone!!!! Joan JSMK426@yahoo.com

Thank you for the chance to win! How fun! My organizing tip is I photocopy all my clear stamps, put the copy into a binder, organized by type of stamp set (seasonal, Xmas, birthday, thank you's etc). Then I organize my stamp sets by their item # in my closet in clear cases. I find that when I am working on cards or a layout and I want a flower, having these photocopies is easier to flip through than hauling out my buckets of stamps and rifling through them that way. It has cut down on my "time wasting".

My organizational tip is for those who want to store their cricut cartridges while they are still in the boxes. I dont want to take them out of the boxes because I share them with between friends and I want everything together. Plus I live in a small house with no storage areas or office. I store the carts alphabetically in the rubbermaid tubs that fit underneath the bed. That way when I am ready to scrap I can pull the clear box out and find the carts that I want to use easily just by looking through the lid.

I came over from everyday cricut.. but this isn't my first stop ! my favorite storage tip - I use the artbin type containers with dividers to sort picture, paper and embellishments to take to a crop. Also I devote an entire bin/container to one album such as a vacation trip, children's school activity, embelishments, paper & pictures as I acquire them to stay coordinated (which sometimes helps prevent duplicate purchases)Thanks for the contest opportunities!

If you craft at home, using spice jars in a spice holder to store your buttons or brads works great. You can pick up this type of thing new, or at thrift stores.

Thanks for this great opportunity. My tip is organizing your scraps. I do it by color families (red, pink, brown-blk-tan, purple, blue, green, yellow). I have 7 small plastic containers (for shoes) I picked up for a $1 each at the Dollar Store. I have each labeled with coordinating color. I have another container I keep by my desk that I put all scraps in. When it gets full- I file them in the correct color bin. That makes it so easy to use my scraps instead of using a new sheet of paper for a project.

Hi there, I am a follower and I also "Like" you on Facebook.
My favourite organisation idea is using yoghurt containers. They are sturdy for putting pens, pencils, scissors, chalks etc in. Easily dressed up on the outside with pretty designs. Loving all these tips on here! WOW!!

I went through a phase earlier this year where I accumalted a rather large amount of brads so I needed a storage solution. I have all my brads and eyelets stored in Craftmate 3XL(14) containers. I sorted them by theme (i.e.: holidays, metals, bling, flowers, etc...). I love these containers because there are 14 compartments but you can open each one separately and they lock; which is really important when you're as clumsy as me! Thanks for the chance to win some awesome carts!

Tip would be to put supplies in baskets to organize tools. thanks for chance to win. Eacosta@dc.rr.com

I use baseball card protectors that go into notebooks to put my small $1.00 stamps I get from AC MOORE in. Each page is for a theme. Before I was digging through a plastic scrapcase and was getting so frustrated. Now I open the notebook and there they are at my fingertips. I also put the bigger sheets of stamps in the full sheet protectors. Then they go on my bookshelf all clean for the next project.

In a word, IKEA! I have their shelving, bins, and Alex drawer units.

I can't say I have the greatest organizational skills (and not much room either), which means I don't have many tips, but I organize my paper with these cool plastic bins I got from Wal-mart. They are just the right width for the 12x12 paper stacks, and I stand them up so I can just skim through to find what I'm looking for. I keep all my paper in one and my cardstock in another.

I store my cricut carts, overlays and books in a C-Gull travel bag that holds 72 carts but I don't throw out the original boxes they came in.
I cover the boxes all in the same pattern of paper that is a beige background with a delicate bamboo pattern over it. I measure and ATG tape it to the box to cover it completely.
Then I make a small loop out of the thinnest ribbon to use as a handle to open the boxes but that is not necessary.
In these boxes I store for example my fabric brads in one then I glue a fabric brad on the ribbon to see what is inside.
The boxes can be used to store small items like a series of Halloween stamps and sayings, small punches, cat's eye stamps, etc. with labels or the items to identify them. You'll soon remember where they are when you need them.
I stack them not vertically like a book but horizontally like little jewelry boxes on my shelf. Having them papered all the same pattern makes them cohesive and not mish-moshy. I think it's a great way to re-purpose these sturdy little boxes!

Just found your blog and subscribed! Woohoo! I mount dowels on square pieces of wood and stack my ribbon spools. I put a cute finial on the end and thats where I keep my most used ribbon.

Great idea! To organize my Cricut carts (I only have a handful) I used an old VHS video stand and hung it horizontally over my craft table. This way I can see the names of the carts and it keeps my space clean!

My favorite tip is for those of us who have unmounted our rubber stamps. Don't throw the wooden blocks away. They are great for making a distress inker pad. I take a smaller block and place velcro on the block and then on the foam piece that you can buy from Ranger. I keep them all in a basket with each one labeled with the color. I'd never be able to buy the Tim Holtz handled one for each one of the ink, so this is even better. It is easy to hold as most of the block have "finger holds" on them. It is cheap and even cheaper if you use another type of foam bought in bulk. Then you could just cut the size you need. Hope this helps some! Love your blog Linda. Brenda

I have several of the 12 x 12 clear plastic containers and I use these to keep supplies and papers in for each of the holidays so that way I can work on what ever holiday I like without looking through all my supplies Of course Christmas take up much more room, just the stamps fill a wooden crate! I have a ton of punches and the best way I've found to store them within reach is to use these small shelves from Jetmax. They are easy to install and the punches fit perfectly on them. The shelves make the punches within reach for a quick grab and keep them organized.

My tip is that I store my cuttlebug folders, spellbinder dies and older sizzix dies in really cute boxes that I got from Joanns. They come in all different sizes and are very decorative to stack. They have a magnetic hinge to keep them closed and mine have bows on the front to match. They kind of look like the old type hat boxes, but they are rectangle. I love your blog and am already a follower.

The only tip I could add is to use magnetic self adhesive strips to the Spellbinder folders to hold the dies in place.

I have gotten some really cool new tips! - - My tips: I keep my papers in the clear 12x12 plastic cases sorted by color families. I label all my cricut books by Joy's method, so I can easily find what I want to cut. My new favorite organization thing is my 10 draw cart on wheels. I don't have a designated room for my crafts, so it makes organization and clean up so easy and it rolls!
I always enjoy your blog tips and can't wait to get them via email each day! Thanks for all the inspiration!

I really dont have an organization tip. I just separate my pattern paper from my plain paper. Enjoy reading all the tips. Maybe I will pick some up.

I like to use an expanding file folder box with a carry handle for scrap pieces. It has plenty of slots for each color or pattern type, label tabs, and I can take it along to crops without having to use up big sheets of paper. I can just drop some large sheets in it and go.

If you have room in your crafting room, buy a super large mirror front medicine cabinet at an odd lots or other similar seconds type store(garage sale even). I put one of these up in my basement scraproom on the wall of a dark corner and boy does it brighten the room. Inside I store all my punches stacked on the shelves with the design showing. My hubby even added some more horizontal shelving for the smaller punches. You could also use this for wooden stamps or maybe even Cricut Carts if it is deep enough.

Also, some one at a garage sale bought from under me a VHS video spinning tower storage rack. I so wanted it for my Cricut Carts. But whoosh, it was gone. I've been searching since.

What's funny is the only things in my scraproom that are organized are my Cricut Cartridges and my scrap paper! My cartridges are in 4 storage boxes in alphabetical order. I won a Scrap'n Tote a few months ago so I put all of my Lite and LE cartridges in there (alphabetically of course). My scraps are in 3 3-drawer stackable 12x12 boxes (9 drawers total) and are in color order: Black & White, Brown & Cream, Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple. I actually want to get a 4th set so I can separate the Black, White, Brown and Cream and have an extra drawer for those truly "Multi-Colored" papers!

What a cool idea! I'm going to have to go buy some duct tape. One of my favorite ways to organize my supplies is by using the extra large plastic portfolios and sorting out my supplies by themes. This way all of my "Christmas", "Pets", "Birthday", "Fishing", etc. supplies are in one portfolio and I can just grab it and put it in my tote when I go to a crop. I also love to use the organizing totes from 31 Gifts to store supplies.

I love your idea of how to place all your scrap pieces of paper in the lil booklets. What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. My orginization tip and favorite one is my rubber stamps 3 ring binder. I place my stamps on a plastic sheet. Then place the sheet in a plastic cover that has the 3-hole punches already in them. Place the stamps in a large 3-ring binder. Thanks - Michelle L./Iowa

Paper scraps are a nightmare for me but now with the tip, I may organize them better. I'll be using the paper scraps organizing tip to "bundle" colors together for a specific project. Since I usually make several cards of the same design at the same time, bundling the colors makes sense to me. As for a tip of my own to share, the tools I use the most are kept in a square desk holder. I can transport the holder filled with my favorite tools, paint brushes, small cutting tools, hand punches, gel pens, bottles of glue, etc. all in one handy and portable place.

Wow, I can't believe I just read all those tips. Almost 3 hrs of them! I learned alot and realized I have great organizational skills. Yipee!

I organize most of my stuff just like the "ScrapRack" teaches but I can't afford that system, so use cheap 88c Walmart notebooks to divide the themes and colors. Have 37 of them on a bookcase behind my desk! Also have sterlite drawers set up with colors for everything I own (which is a lot after 10+ years) of that color in it. Small embellishments are in small jewelry bags with the manufacture written on it in their color drawer. I leave hardly anything in their original packaging, as it takes up less space.

Love your blog and great cards, am new subscriber!

I plan to use your idea to make "scrap" paper books! My tip is how I store my Creative Memories Shapemaker containers. I took the cardboard bottom of a 2 lb Velveeta box & covered it with Contac Paper! It's the perfect size to hold 9 containers.
