Steampunk Album and How to Make a Binding Using Duct Tape

I am beyond thrilled to share this amazing album made by my sister Di!  There are 69 places for photos or for journaling and it took my sister 12 days to complete this gorgeous book that measures 8 x 28 inches when fully opened.

The book is gatefold style (opens from both sides) and has a very intricate binding system and amazing pockets. It even has a waterfall card and much more! It was impossible to take photos that showed all of her amazing details so I decided to show you the entire book in the following video. Also included on the video is a quick demo of how to make a basic binding using duct tape. Next time my sister comes for a visit we will make a detailed video on how she made this incredible book.

The camera lens is really a mini book. Wow! Most of the papers are from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection and DCWV La Crème collection. In addition, she used several free graphics from GraphicFairy.com and Tim Holtz Idea-ology elements. This is only a one page, sneak peek from her amazing book. You won't believe how many hidden pages there are in this book. Be sure to watch the video below to see the entire project, including how to make a basic binding using duct tape. You will love her book!

A special thanks to my sister for sharing her amazing work with me. Also my sister would like to give a special shout out to Cynthialoowho’s YouTube channel for her video on how to make a binding using duct tape! Also a special thanks to Anne from Annes Papercreations for all her inspiration!

Have a great day.

Valentine Crackers

This may be my favorite Valentine’s Day kit from SVG Cuts ever! I know I keep saying that, but the kits keep getting better! I love the idea of making valentine crackers for quick and easy gifts or to add to my table. These are so easy and each cracker is only one piece. Yahoo!

My goal is to make 8 of these before Valentine’s Day so I better get busy. I used double-sided paper from the new Lovebirds Collection from Doodlebug designs. I love that collection and it even comes with a sticker sheet.

I can’t wait to give these as gifts. So cute!

This adorable box is also part of the Sweets for My Sweet kit. Mary did a great job designing this kit and making this adorable candy box. Click here to see more of this kit.

Be sure to stop back Wed for a fun surprise! Hint….it involves my sister and it is amazing!

Fab Five Friday

Welcome to Fab Five Friday! A special thanks to my sister, Di for telling me about Anne’s amazing blog, Annes Papercreations.

Anne made this entire Tim Holtz storage tower from chipboard. She even made a glass door

On this side there are drawers, shelves and room for rulers.

Can you believe on this side there is even a section for holding 60 ink pads? Her carousel has four sides. Anne also has a video showing her amazing work and you can find detailed directions including lots more photos on her blog. You just have to watch the video to believe this work of art! Wait until you see the shutter/curtain that covers the ink pad section. I am totally speechless and I am never speechless just ask my friends and family!

Valentine Mailbox

I am a huge fan of SVG Cuts and fell in love with their For My Valentine Kit and had to make this adorable mailbox.

I recently purchased the Echo Park Love Story Digital collection and immediately had to use their amazing papers. I used digital papers for everything except the mailbox itself. The red paper is from Bazzill and it matches perfectly. If you have not used digital papers with your Cameo, click here to see my latest video. It is so easy to do and the results are amazing!

I used Word for the sentiment and twine, buttons and rhinestones from my stash. Click here to see a video on how to use Photoshop to add sentiments to your project and here to see a video on how to use Word.

This amazing card file is also part of the For My Valentine Collection from SVG cuts. Click here to see the entire kit. You are going to love this kit!

Thanks for visiting and be sure to stop back for a fun Fab Five Friday!

Using Digital Paper with your Silhouette Cameo

I posted this yesterday on Samantha Walker’s blog and I could not wait to share it with you. It is such an honor to be on her design team!

I love Samantha Walker’s designs from the on-line Silhouette store and her amazing digital papers.  In today’s video tutorial, I demonstrate how to use digital paper with your Silhouette Cameo and how to make this cute card. On the video, I also demonstrate how to do a printer bleed so your print and cut designs come out perfect every time!

I love the versatility of this design.  All you need to do is change the paper and sentiment and you could use this card for almost any occasion!

I used Samantha Walker’s  Blossom  Mega Kit for my project. This mega kit contains 8 textured solids, 8 floral themed papers in Pink tones, 9 floral papers in oranges and browns, and 8 deliciously sweet floral themed digital papers in the aqua tones. It also contains 140+ Blossom elements. In addition to the regular versions of the elements, there are embossed versions of most of the elements as well. I used the pinks, but can’t wait to use the aqua tones.

Have a wonderful day!

Jackson and Mila

As you may know, we went through a difficult time in September when we lost my crafting buddy Izzy from epilepsy. We were determined to wait awhile before getting another cat, but encouragement from my sister, niece, and sad looks from our remaining cat Jackson convinced us to start looking for another kitten. Jackson looked lost without Izzy. As luck would have it, our local animal shelter had a cute little black and white furball that seemed to be saying, "take me home". It was love at first sight for both my husband and myself.

I posted several photos on my blog of Mila and Jackson in October and decided to use some of those photos for a Photoshop class. This page combined several lessons from the Photoshop Friday series including how to make my own paper using a shape, in this case a diamond. I still have so much to learn!

I am pleased to report that Mila and Jackson are now closer than ever! They sleep together, play together and wash each other. And create havoc in my craft room which I love! I am so grateful to have them both.

Have a great day and be sure to stop back for Fab Five Friday.

Happy Valentine’s Day Card

Last year I made this adorable valentine for my husband and thought I would share it with you again. It is called a heartstring card because you pull on the string to reveal a hidden message. Here is the link in case you want to make one. This card does not require a cutting machine and is so easy to make!

I love the look of the card closed. It just looks like a simple valentine, but .....

...pull the string to open it...

…then a valentine’s message is revealed!

Thanks for visiting…. I am working on some new valentine projects and new videos and hope to have them posted soon! I just can’t seem to shake this virus and I am a bit behind! Yikes!

Samatha’s cut file is so versatile and can also be used to keep a food diary, or used as a mini album. The possibilities are endless! She also has two additional checkbook designs that you will want to check out by clicking here and here.

Digital Scrapbooking…..My First Attempt!

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to learn how to do digital scrapbooking. I recently completed several on-line Photoshop classes taught by Jessica Sprague and they were amazing!

I enrolled in the Photoshop Top 5 class and made this digital page for one of my projects. Guess what? This class is free! I learned so much from this free series that I decided to take her Photoshop Friday 2012 version. This version is no longer available; however she has a number of amazing classes scheduled for 2013. I so recommend her classes and hope to share more layouts with you in the near future.  The layout features our nephew Ryan and his son Landon!

Stay tuned for a fun new Fab Five Friday and I hope you have a wonderful new year!
