Anna Griffin Lovely Layered Card

As most of you know, I am an avid Anna Griffin fan! I love her products, but I have a new favorite. I recently purchased her Lovely Layered Cards Cricut cartridge and I am thrilled with how beautiful my card turned out.

This card consists of four layers and it is even more spectacular in person. You can also add embellishments to this card, but I love the simple look.

It is fairly easy to make, however, removing it from the mat and gluing all the layers did take time. This card definitely does not qualify for my Make it in Minutes Monday series.

If you have not purchased this cartridge, I highly recommend that you try it out on Design Space. Be warned you are going to want to buy it.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Beautiful card. Her work is gorgeous, but very time consuming. Ana

Oh my goodness! Your card is beautiful Linda. I have a question -- do you use cardstock for all the layers? Doesn't that make the card bulky? I tried one of the cards using some text weight paper and it didn't work well, but even that seemed a little bulky. Also, is the inside layer the same size as the card base (8.5 x 5.5) making 2 layers of 8.5 x 5.5 plus the card front layers ? I hope that makes sense.

Jeanie, I did use card stock for all my layers. And it is a little bulky, but I used fairly light weight card stock. Hope that helps! Also check out Anna Griffin's blog...she has a tutorial on how she makes the cards! Have a great day!

Hi Linda - another question if you don't mind. In the design, the dark brown layer is a full sized card base. Did you cut that layer in half to be the same size as the card front? So when the card is open, the inside left side is dark brown and the inside right side is the cream color? Thanks so much for your previous answer - that helped.

Jeanie, I so forgot to mention that I spilled glue on it and had to cut if off! I was having one of those days. Check out Anna's blog...She started from the back layer and I started from the front. Next time I will work on the last layer first:)

Good luck. You might want to try another design and see if that works better. This is the only one I have made so far.

Hello! I am a card creating newbie, but thought I would attempt to make these beautiful layered cards. I have two questions: (1) What type of glue did you use? and (2) Are all the layers glued together or did you use foam adhesive to separate some layers?

Thanks so much. I really appreciate your help! I'm subscribing to your blog right now!! Gail E.

Gail, I used my Zig 2 way glue pen to glue the layers and I did not use foam adhesive. Hope this helps!

My compliments on your card. It is awesome. I just bought this cartridge and am a little confused on how to use it. Do I have to create the cards in Design Space or can I just use the cartridge on my Expressions machine? I also don't have a universal overlay, which the package says I need. I would really appreciate some advice.
Thank you,
Patricia Sanderson

Patricia, I am sorry but I only use Design Space with this cartridge. I believe it will work with your Expression machine. You may want to "Google" Cricut Universal overlay for more information.

Maybe another reader will have an answer for you.

This is very pretty. I love the colors and how neat it looks. Thank you for sharing.

Patricia, you should be able to use this cartridge with your Exoression. You should be able to put it together in the Cricut Craftroom software program so you do not have to use the universal overlay. But if you need more help with this just call Cricut and they will help you.
(Hopefully, you have already been able to use this beautiful cartridge...)

is there a download svg that can be used with Design Space for this card?

I finally tried the cartridge after having it for years! I timed myself on the 3rd card. I slowed my Expression 2 down to a speed of 2 because of the intricacy of the cuts and found from beginning to end (which includes putting it together), it was a good hour. The only way it may have been a bit quicker would have been to change the cutting speed but I don't believe that would have changed it much. I did find that when folded, the inside layer was a tad larger than the card and I cut off the smidgen that hung over. I also found that if I did not put glue on that inside edge, it folded better.
